When designing the new warehouse for a steel company in Santa Giustina, the primary challenge was to balance the client’s need to maximize storage space and control costs while creating a building that would AESTHETICALLY ENHANCE THE SURROUNDING INDUSTRIAL AREA.
The goal was to design a building that would feel as LIGHT and DELICATE as possible, despite its substantial size.
The idea was to create a modular, CUSTOM-MADE PLEATED CONCRETE MOLD whose rhythm breaks the monotony of the facades, playing with the effects of sunlight and shadows throughout the day.
At night, the high ribbon windows wrapping around all four sides of the structure form a LUMINOUS BAND, giving a sense of lightness and floating.
In front of each opening, a PERFORATED METAL GRID follows the contours of the pleated concrete walls, regulating the flow of natural light and unifying the overall design of the building.
The result is a warehouse that resembles a seamless drape of SMOOTH ROSE-COLORED CONCRETE, resting atop a bush hammered plinth.
